Our Role

The Office of the Public Trustee of Papua New Guinea provides essential and impartial estate administration in managing the legal affairs of Deceased, Missing and Insane Persons, ensuring their assets are distributed according to law or Will.

The Office of Public Trustee is not like a conventional government office/agency, but is a corporation established by the Public Curator Act Chapter 81 (Principal Act) and Public Curator (Amendment Act 2020). It has perpetual succession and can hold, acquire and dispose properties and assets and can sue and be sued on its own corporate name and style.

Who We Serve

We provide assistance to families, individuals, and the courts by protecting the interests of the beneficiaries who are mostly vulnerable, especially where the deceased having multiple partners and children who are born out of wedlock, bona vacantia estate or where legal guidance is required.
